Blog: Wiki So Far

I have been researching more to add to the gaming category of the class wiki as I see that there is a lot of good content and passionate videogamers who have also taken this new media class. I plan to add a section about Rainbow Six Siege under the Ubisoft section which contains games created by Ubisoft and I plan to add information about the core gameplay, why it is different from other types of first person shooters and some information about the various operators that are in the game. I also will add a subsection about tips for people who might possibly want to try the game, but don't know where to start or what to learn as it is a fairly complex game.

A form of new media that doesn't exist might become a reality with the development virtual reality technology and it would be a form of teaching through virtual reality gear. When this kind of technology becomes more widespread and common kids in countries or neighborhoods with unsafe environments or just low resources might be able to learn in virtual reality with teachers and they wouldn't be limited by classroom supplies or distance. The classes could have teachers and students from around the world could be in any sort of classroom virtual reality can create. This would allows people to get high quality education from remote areas while still have face to face interaction and conversations.

Blog: Social networking sites

My initial impressions from visiting Facebook and being a member are that it is very cluttered and filled with a lot of random media such as news, video clips, photos, and advertisements. If I am to be honest I would compare Facebook to a pile of trash with gems in it here and there, but in general I only visit the site to communicate with people on messenger for the convenient fact that many people have Facebook accounts. For Twitter the design is much cleaner without the clutter that Facebook has, but content wise I feel it is the same where its a landfill of misinformation and opposing opinions. I feel that Twitter is mostly functions as a platform for influencers that are well known to reach their supporters such as political leaders or celebrities. A site that I often visit is Reddit where users can choose to visit subreddits that are essentially communities that share a common topic such as the subreddit worldnews where current news in the world is shared or awww where cute pictu...

In Depth of DeepFake Technology: Distorting reality in the online world.

The topic I chose for my project is the effects of deepfake technology in the online world. This technology makes navigating the world wide web even more difficult as it becomes harder and harder to tell the real from the false illusions created by deepfakes. In the world we live in many of us take real life footage as factual or at least more likely to be real, but this technology allows for the alteration of video and audio that would be indistinguishable from the real thing to the majority of the populous. I want to explore the ramifications of deepfake videos of political figures saying things that would scare off supporters or the fearful thought that the person on the other end of the phone call might be AI imitating the exact voice and speech pattern of that person. On many social media sites fake news has already been spreading like wildfire and causing immeasurable damage to society this new and evolving deepfake technology could change the way we perceive reality in the near ...
