BLOG: Blog v Wiki

The main difference between blogs vs wiki are that blogs are personal writings of a person while a wiki is the collaboration of many people. A blog is more suited for putting out personal opinions or writing that would then be peer reviewed by the readers of the blog in the comments section. This allows the blogger to learn what their readers think of the blog post. In a wiki many people are allowed to edit and add on to wiki which means it is a mass of information that is constantly being updated. Blogs are personal writings, but they can be used for collaboration in that the blogger can build a connection with their readers through the comments section that will lead to growth of the bloggers writings by taking other's criticisms and opinions and incorporating them into future blog posts. I can't think of an idea for the use of a wiki that hasn't already been done yet, but one idea that I thought was innovative was the use of a company wide wiki where employees could share information and attempt to solve each other's problems though the collaboration of company employees.

Blog: Social networking sites

My initial impressions from visiting Facebook and being a member are that it is very cluttered and filled with a lot of random media such as news, video clips, photos, and advertisements. If I am to be honest I would compare Facebook to a pile of trash with gems in it here and there, but in general I only visit the site to communicate with people on messenger for the convenient fact that many people have Facebook accounts. For Twitter the design is much cleaner without the clutter that Facebook has, but content wise I feel it is the same where its a landfill of misinformation and opposing opinions. I feel that Twitter is mostly functions as a platform for influencers that are well known to reach their supporters such as political leaders or celebrities. In Depth of DeepFake Technology: Distorting reality in the online world.

The topic I chose for my project is the effects of deepfake technology in the online world. This technology makes navigating the world wide web even more difficult as it becomes harder and harder to tell the real from the false illusions created by deepfakes. In the world we live in many of us take real life footage as factual or at least more likely to be real, but this technology allows for the alteration of video and audio that would be indistinguishable from the real thing to the majority of the populous.
